From the beginning!
Emily is a wife to her loving husband, Michael, and mother to their darling daughters, Bentleigh and Lakelynn. Michael and Emily started their journey together in 2012 and were married in 2013. She graduated with a teaching degree from Buena Vista University in 2015. They moved from our home in Iowa to Las Vegas to pursue teaching 2nd grade at an Arts Integration school. They later moved to Arkansas, where she taught 1st, 4th, and 5th grades. Finally, in 2017 they welcomed the most amazing little girl into their lives. Bentleigh was 10 months old when she came into their home through the foster care system. Emily became passionate about learning about the brain and the trauma that goes along with being adopted. She also started working with ICEA to write a curriculum for their Postpartum Doula course. As Bentleigh got older, the Masons decided to move back to Iowa, where they could be closer to family. They still were struggling with infertility, and when the pandemic shut down the world, Emily was able to shut down her brain and solely focus on her mental health and having a baby. We welcomed Lakelynn into our lives in August of 2021!
As of 2024, Emily has two master's Degrees, one in Early Childhood Education and the other in Special Education. She is currently a doctoral student at the University of Arkansas and is looking to graduate in December 2025.
From the desk of Emily...
This company started as a way for me to learn about my daughter's past traumas and how the brain works. I started reading, researching, and really diving back into the texts and books that I read in school. I love learning about the brain and creating fun and exciting activities for Bentleigh and Lakelynn to do. In 2018, I went to China to teach my first workshop on this, and we haven't stopped yet! I am so excited to see where this life takes me! As long as planes fly and cars drive, I plan to see this world and bring my love of teaching to it!
