Building Your Village: How Postpartum Doula Soraya Rose Creates Community and Support for New Parents

Everyone knows it takes a village to raise a baby. But what do you do when your village doesn't live anywhere near you? Or when that village has lives of their own to manage? Our culture isn't built to sustain the village that used to be available to new parents. But that doesn't change the fact that you NEED HELP. That's where newly certified postpartum doula Soraya Rose comes in. She moved to a new city amid COVID-19, which was incredibly isolating- she spent most days just wishing she had a friend. As restrictions let up and she was able to explore her new city, she started building the community she wanted so badly. Soraya knows how hard it is to feel alone in the middle of major life events.  That feeling is why she is so passionate about building community. She truly enjoys taking care of people, and that works out perfectly for moms trying to recover physically from birth at the same time as learning the new role of Mom. Soraya’s love language is acts of service- she enjoys cooking for others, caring for moms and babies, and yes, even enjoys cleaning! She’s ready to take over all of those things running rampant in new parent brains so they can focus all of their energy on the one job only they can do for baby- be parents!
