Hi, I’m Kaitlyn! I wanted to start this page by giving you some idea of who in the heck I am. I was born in, what was then, a very small town in Central Texas. I grew up catching tadpoles in creeks, chasing fireflies at dusk, and daydreaming about fairies while spinning on my tire swing. From an early age I was deeply connected to the natural world; I would patiently and excitedly wait for the bees and butterflies in the garden to land on my fingers, I looked forward to that moment every day when I could run to the neighbor's fence and climb my little feet up on the bottom wooden rung and call out “Pinkyyyy, Oshuaaa,” peering out to see those two horses (that liked almost no one) run towards me.
While I certainly lost sight of some of those loves in my teenage years, replacing simplicity with drama, dirt for blush, and animals for boys, I never lost that caregiver part of me. To this day it is a point of contention in my family that I was almost charged with truancy for skipping school to volunteer at the daycare down the street so much. But I loved it there, I had found my calling and knew it.
I continued developing my Early Childhood Education skills through various preschool teaching positions while earning my Bachelor’s of English with an emphasis on Education at Texas State. It was there that I met my husband who re-sparked that love of the outside world. We are outside hiking, camping, and exploring with our dog every free second we have. A few years ago we started talking about having kids, and me being me, well I read just about every book I could get my hands on. Throughout that learning, I discovered my next calling: being a Doula. I started taking trainings, learning about spinning babies and peanut balls, reading books on the Doula’s role, practicing comfort measures on anyone that would let me, volunteering my time at hospitals, and that brings us to now, as I embark on the journey of developing my own Doula practice. Thanks for reading, and I cannot wait to help you and your family in this transformative time.
